Gawain - English versionGawain - English versionGawain is a live role playing game inspired with fantasy stories and the Middle Ages. It is original Czech game inspired with AD&D. The players fence by wooden swords, conjure by spells and shoot by bows. For better image, look on photos. (If there is any trouble, there are alternative positions of the same images: 1, 2, 4, 6, 8, 9, 10, 12, 13, 14, others.)
The game of Gawain has relatively complicated rules. You can see the Basic rules in Czech language (the translation will be later). Every player belongs to a five-members retinue and every player has a vocation. There are four basic vocations: warrior, thief, heeler and conjurer.
Retinue goes through the territory and try to meet some strange characters (played by a organisers). The meeting can be peaceful or there can be fight - it depends on players. After many meetings they come to the most important meeting with the most evil creature. And it is the crucial final fight.
We are group of Czechs living in Slany (small town 22 miles from Prague). You can see our people photos (commented in Czech). We were first who began to play historical LARPs in Czechia according to written rules in 1995. We play about five times per year and visit other games or Gawains of other groups in Czechia.
